Patricia Allen's legacy will live on forever at Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

As Buffalo Bills fans watched their team dominate the Seattle Seahawks at a home game earlier this month, no one knew the grief their star quarterback was dealing with. It wasn't until after the game that Coach Sean McDermott said Allen had lost his grandmother just the night before, but that he had still wanted to play.

Almost instantaneously, Bills fans stepped up. They started donating to the Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, a place very close to Allen's heart, as he has done a lot of work with the hospital since he joined the Bills less than two years ago. Fans donated in honor of Allen and his grandmother, Patricia, and the hospital even created a special Bills Mafia donation button so fans could donate $17, Allen's jersey number.

News quickly spread across the league and people all across the country began throwing in donations. Now, the total is nearly at $700,000, and Oishei Children's Hospital responded in a big way.

In a press release on Saturday, the hospital announced that it will be honoring Allen's grandmother with the 'Patricia Allen Fund,' which will provide ongoing support for the pediatric critical care team, which transfers over 800 patients every year to Oishei Children's Hospital from Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania. The hospital will also rename a wing on its tenth floor, themed as the sports floor, to the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing. Oishei released a mock-up of what the wing's new entrance will look like, including a picture of Allen pointing to the sky during the Seahawks game.

Within the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing, the floor's playroom will also be renamed to 'The Buffalo Bills Fans Fun Zone,' in recognition of the tremendous donations made by Bills Mafia.

"We really felt this was the perfect way to honor Patricia and recognize Bills fans for this incredible support of our hospital," Allegra Jaros, the president of Oishei Children’s Hospital said in the press release. "With the wing being located on our sports floor which is already outfitted with lots of Bills and football memorabilia and graphics, we couldn’t think of a better place."

The changes were all made in partnership with Josh Allen, who is still astounded by all of the love and support he has received over the last month.

"I am humbled by the incredible generosity that has poured in over the past several days in honor of my grandmother," Allen said in the press release. "It means the world to me and my family and we are very grateful these donations will go toward helping save many lives for years to come."
