A 12-year-old girl just fought the battle of her life, and won. She's officially cancer-free. Now she's fighting another battle, and this time it's against her school.

Rose McGrath got the greatest news ever - her cancer was gone and she's in remission. Then she got the worst news - she missed too many days of school and she's being dismissed.

McGrath has been battling cancer since 2012, when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She finally beat cancer last December. With having treatments (and obviously being sick), McGrath only made it to school 32 times this school year. Because of that, and poor academic performance, the school decided it was best to dismiss her.

It's such a difficult story. I understand the school has certain rules, but some things should be looked into as 'special circumstances.' She may be behind in her schoolwork because of all the time she missed, but they should be able to work out some kind of arrangement - after school tutor, summer school, something. It wasn't like she was skipping class because she didn't want to go, she was sick!

A civil rights complaint has been filed against the school.
