Celebrate Christmas in July with Handshake.City
Although Santa is on vacation, he's getting ready for the holiday season right here in Utica. With less than six months until December, why not celebrate Christmas a little bit early?
Going on this Friday night, Made In Utica will be hosting "Christmas in July" in Baggs Square with all sorts of festive activities to put you in the Christmas-esque spirit.
You can get a start on your shopping thanks to a bunch of local small shops who will be setting up for the marketplace. Bring your pet, or the family, for your Christmas family photos. Plus, there will be holiday music and games!
Save some room for lunch and drinks with some local food trucks that will be on site, and Woodland Beer will be on site for happy hour.
There's also a fundraiser going on for he Proctor High School Drama club. Along with Santa and members of the community, Derek Clark of Broadway Utica and Andrew Derminio of WIBX 950am will be going head to head to see who can raise the most money for the group with the Polar Plunge dunk tank.
Plus, the new Utica Trolley will make it's debut. It's a ten person pedal tour bike, and anyone who is running in the Boilermaker, Boilermaker volunteers, and anyone in Christmas attire can grab a free ride.
Katie Reilly, co-founder of Handshake.City mentioned how the Boilermaker and the premise of this event tie together.
Boilermaker weekend has always been affectionately known as Christmas for runners. We wanted to throw an actual festive celebration to give all the visitors in town something fun to do.
Christmas in July is free to attend and supported by New York Sash and the Observer-Dispatch. You can find out more details about Christmas in July at handshake.city.
