A young artist with Central New York roots is hard at work in the Big Apple creating her own unique sound--and trying to score with an original Christmas tune.

Faith Gara grew up in Madison County's village of Cazenovia and has been a singing prodigy for a number of years. She recently formed the group Smokelines with her friend, Skylar Star, and they've been busy in New York City "interning, shooting and editing videos...fulfilling odd jobs, singing in the subway."

This year they released a song called "Ms. Claus," in which a heartbroken young girl "writes a letter to Ms. Claus seeking post-break up expertise" and Santa's better half responds. Listen below for a clip:
