If all this snow has got you down, and you need a laugh, check out the Stand Up Comedy Showcase at the Uptown Theater.

This Saturday, doors will open at 7:30pm and the show will start at 8:00pm. The showcase features all the comics who have been taking stand up classes at the Uptown for several weeks with comedian and writer Ryan Kemp.

In the interest of full disclosure, I've been taking those classes too. So I can tell you without hesitation that these folks are HILARIOUS (myself excluded). If you're lucky, you'll get to see Mike Gould rocking one of his many cardigans, and you can ask Matt Wilson to say "squirrel". Personally, I'm hoping to see Devin Mahoney and Mel Kinney perform as well. And yes, I'll be getting up there too.

Admission is just $5, which will help to support the incredible endeavor that is the Uptown Theater for Creative Arts. While you're there, you can pick up a membership, learn about the other classes the Uptown offers, and check out the newly renovated lobby of this local gem.

For more information, you can visit the Uptown's website at UTCANY.org.
