Claire's is recalling makeup sold to children after it tested positive for asbestos.

Claire's, which has a retail presence in Destiny USA and Sangertown Square, is voluntarily recalling makeup after samples tested positive for asbestos.

This is not the first time Claire's has had to remove items from it's shelves due to the presence of asbestos: in March 2019, the company pulled eyeshadow and contouring powder from stores.

The current recall involves two products:

  • Beauty Plus Global Contour Effects Palette 2, Batch No. S1603002/PD-C1179
  • Claire’s JoJo Siwa Makeup Set, SKU #888711136337, Batch/Lot No. S180109

The FDA says consumers that purchased these items should stop using them immediately. Consumers can return them to the store for a full refund.

In a statement, Claire's says the voluntary recall was initiated "out of an abundance of caution," and that they stand "behind the safety of this item and all other Claire’s cosmetic items."
