The former schoolhouse was home to the Word of Life Christian Church. That 'church' was the site of the October 2015 beatings that led to the death of then 19-year-old Lucas Leonard and seriously injured then 17-year-old Christopher Leonard.

According to the listing by Pyramid Brokerage/Cushman-Wakefield, the 44,000SF former school situated on 1.86 acres on Oneida Street, is ideal for conversion to apartments or office. The property features large classrooms, gymnasium, locker rooms and offices. The asking price is $315,000. The property is being listed by Jeffrey D'Amore.

Is there an investor that would be willing to see past the property's dark history and try to create a brighter future for the  building? Can the New Hartford community see past the evil that once resided there and instead think of it as welcoming apartments, or home to a new business? Only time will tell.
