Some songs are okay to have stuck in your head, but after awhile even the best song can get pretty annoying. So what do you do? How do you get that song out of your head?

I don't know about you, but most mornings I wake up with a song stuck in my head. Usually it's something I haven't heard in years, and I have no idea why I'm thinking of it, but it's there. I always figured if I listened to the song or sang it out loud, I could get it to go away (sometimes that helps, but not always).

Well, we have to give a big thanks to science! Really - they always find an answer to every problem (even if you didn't know it was a problem in the first place). According to Distractify a study done from the University of Reading has found that chewing gum can help you get that song out of your head.

The researchers believe gum helps us overcome earworms because the mental pathways that run to the ear are the ones that hold onto catchy songs. When we start to chew a piece of gum, the mechanical action of the jaw disrupts these pathways, effectively clearing away the tune...

So the next time a song is stuck in your head - and you need it out, just chew a piece of gum. There! Problem solved!
