The Herkimer County Fair Event Schedule for 2017
It's almost fair season in Central New York! All the city/town and county fairs are starting to release their schedule of events, and the Herkimer County Fair is one of them.
What's better than getting the family together for some delicious fried foods, amusement rides, demonstrations, shows, and just some good quality time together? The Herkimer County Fair is a perfect opportunity to experience all that and more. The fair runs from Tuesday, August 15th through Sunday, August 20th.
These are just some of the notable things you can check out each day during the fair:
Tuesday - August 15th:
- According to HerkimerCountyFair.org, the opening ceremonies will begin at 3pm, with the gates officially opening at 4pm.
- At 6:30pm there will be the Jr. Miss, Little Mister, and Little Miss Pageants
- The night will wrap up with a wonderful firework display at 10:30pm
Wednesday - August 16th:
- Senior Bingo starts at 11am and runs until 2pm
- There's the "Brookfield Garden Tractor Pull" at 6pm
- And country singer "Shania Twin" will take the stage at 7:30pm
Thursday - August 17th:
- At 1pm there will be an ice cream giveaway (what more could you ask for??)
- A demolition derby with vans and trucks will take place at 7pm
- Voice Finalist Jake Worthington will perform at 7:30pm
Friday - August 18th:
- There's another ice cream giveaway at 1pm
- At 3pm and 5pm a "Children's Pedal Tractor Pull" will take place
- A demolition derby is scheduled for 7pm
- And country group "The Beadle Brothers" will take the stage at 7:30pm
Saturday - August 19th:
- The "Open and Youth Horse Show" starts at 9am
- You can watch the Talent Show at 1pm
- At 4pm there is a "Children's Rodeo"
- "Swamp Drivers" will perform at 7:30pm
Sunday - August 20th:
- A tractor pull will take place at 11am
- And something that looks absolutely amazing (if you've never seen it before), there's a Children's Power Wheel Demo at 6pm
And that's just a handful of the things to look forward to each and every day of the fair. Of course there will be the carnival rides, the acrobatic shows, the animals, and let's not forget about the delicious food. There's just something about going to a fair, taking in all the sights and enjoying a nice fresh-squeezed lemonade or a plate of cheesy nachos.
