Work can be a very dangerous place for food temptations. There always seems to be a birthday cake, a bowl of candy at the receptionist's desk, or a chinese food friday. Cosmopolitan came up with some tips on how to lose weight at work and actually become fit instead of packing on the pounds:

BYOS- Bring Your Own Snack. The vending machine can be a gold mine for unhealthy snacks, so make sure you bring your own food to curb your cravings. Some good ideas are low fat yogurt and part-skim string cheese.

  • But Keep Treats Hidden. Don't have your food in plain view. You will be more tempted to eat it when you aren't actually hungry. Keep your snacks in the fridge or in a drawer.
  • Squeeze Your Butt With Every Email. It may sound silly, but it's a good idea. Every time you send an e-mail, contract your butt muscles for five seconds and then relax for five seconds. Repeat four times.
  • Tone Your Abs Deskside. Pull your chair up to the point where your knees are an inch or two below your hips. Lean forward with your chest above your hips and contract your shoulder blades. This will push your chest forward, get those muscles working, and give you some abs.
  • Do Leg Lifts on the DL. Sit up straight and make sure your feet are flat on the floor. Place one of your legs parallel to the floor and keep it straight. Then flex the same foot and hold this for five seconds. Take five seconds to lower your leg back down to the ground. Try a dozen of these lifts during the day, and notice the change in your legs.
