Kaylin’s Take: What I’m Thankful This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving happens to be my favorite holiday. Spending time with my loved ones, eating some delicious food, watching football and reminiscing on all of the things I'm thankful for.
Let's face it: 2020 has been a really crappy year for everyone. But it is still important, despite how terrible it has been, to reflect and express all the things you continue to be thankful for.
I'm thankful for my family
My family has been through a lot this year. My grandpa was in the hospital at the beginning of 2020, my aunt had another health struggle. My cousin is expecting a baby sometime here soon. But at the end of the day, my family are the ones who support me, who are never judgmental of me and accept me for who I am. They keep me sane, they drive me to be a better person, they have my back in situations that I am scared I don't have control over. I couldn't have made it through this year without all of them and their support.
I'm thankful for my job
The radio industry is one that is constantly changing and evolving. I have learned so much in my two years of being fully employed by Lite 98.7 and Townsquare Media that make me a well-rounded, radio professional. And at the age of 26, I think that's a great thing to be to help me in my future.
I'm thankful for new beginnings
The pandemic lead me to open my own business with a friend of mine called The Grater Good Utica. We make charcuterie boards. It's provided me sanity and has been very therapeutic overall for me. My boyfriend and I purchased our new home. It's been a very eye-opening to go through it all: the closing process, the moving process, the renovation process.
I'm thankful for my friends
I've felt really anxious and stressed since the beginning of the year. Obviously so much has happened and it's kind of changed my attitude towards a lot of things. My friends have been by my side every step of the way, have been so motivating and constantly remind me that I'm not alone, that I have a right to feel the way I feel about things, and that they'll always be there for me.
