Most women dress according to what's trendy. But in today's economy it's hard to justify spending money on that cute dress when you have utility bills or food to pay for. With that in mind I thought I would give you a few tips on style and money at the same time.

The key thing to keep in mind when shopping for new clothes is how many different ways you can wear a specific piece of clothing. If you can only come up with one outfit, you might want to rethink buying it. For example, if I were to find this great white top pictured to the left, I would stop and think of how many items of clothes I already have that would go with it. I could wear it with a skirt, I could wear it with basic jeans, or I could wear it to work under a blazer. Now, if I found a great pair of yellow skinny pants (pictured below), I would have less options. Yes, I could wear it with a black or white top, but I wouldn't be able to wear it with much else  unless it had yellow in it or if I had several different yellow tops.

I recommend sticking to basic colors such as black, white, blue, and earth tones and then purchasing that splash of color in a form of fun jewelry, or scarfs, belts, or even shoes. Another great piece of clothing to have is a black cardigan. This can be worn with jeans or with dress pants. Plus if you have several different camisoles you can change the look all the time!

Keeping all of this in mind will help you save a lot of money because you will realize you have plenty of clothes to wear and you will spend less. But don't get me wrong. I do LOVE shopping and every once and a while you just have to HAVE that top.
