For many CNY families, Thanksgiving isn't a time of abundance. Instead, it's just another day where they struggle to feed the people around their table. The Utica Food Pantry tries to change that every day - and especially on Thanksgiving.

The Utica Food Pantry is collecting turkeys to distribute to local families in need in time for Thanksgiving. In 2016, the Utica Food Pantry gave away 460 turkeys, and they hope to give away even more this year.

How can you help CNY families in need?

According to a Facebook post from pantry Board Member Marianne Brooks, you can donate a turkey or trimmings:

Thanksgiving is practically synonymous with turkey. The holiday calls to mind an image of a big roasted bird served with all the sides, like stuffing, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. You can help make that vision a reality for a family who can't afford to do it on their own.

If you'd like to help, you can contact the Utica Food Pantry at uticafoodpantry.org or call them at the number above or at 315-724-6000.
