The Tarrant County medical examiner says 42-year-old Kirk Franklin of nearby Saginaw Texas died in the infield during a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway after he shot himself in the head. The death on Saturday April 13th is apparently a suicide.

Fort Worth police have said that the man, who was camping at the time in the infield, died of a "self-inflicted injury" after getting into an argument with other campers. The incident happened late in the NRA Sponsored Spring Cup race.

According to the Huffington Post: Police spokeswoman Cpl. Tracey Knight has said that alcohol may have been a factor. Knight said several people witnessed the incident, but nobody was in danger. Ironic, isn't it?
