It didn't take long for America to realize that Sawyer Fredricks is a superstar, particularly after winning The Voice. How appropriate is it that he will be singing our National Anthem this weekend.

I've never been to a NASCAR race but I used to co- host a NASCAR radio segment on a country station I used to work at. Ironically, I know nothing about the sport. Somehow, our segment seemed to work though; the guy I was co-hosting with was a NASCAR genius so I immediately assumed the dumb guy role.

He would talk about "bear grease", and I would make wise crack liners like: "yeah I know what that is, its peanut butter that the furry beast left on the outside of my tent." He would make mentions of "grooves," and I would immediately bust out singing my favorite  Marvin Gaye slow jam. "I got my groove right here John" I'd say.

Regardless of my ignorance of one of America's popular sports, thousands of diehard fans will be making the trip to Schuyler County later this week to watch the race. They will also be treated to a special performance. According to rightrelevance.com

"The Voice" winner and Upstate New York native Sawyer Fredericks will perform at the NASCAR Xfinity race at Watkins Glen International on Saturday August 8th.
