I'm a fan of the hit show Wahlburgers on A&E so while I was in Boston over the weekend I paid the star studded restaurant a visit.

In the event you're not familiar with Wahlburgers, there's a good chance you recognize the name "Wahlberg." The restaurant is managed and operated by Paul Wahlberg, the older brother of Danny and Mark. Danny stars in the TV show Blue Bloods and sang in the popular boy band New Kids on the Block. Mark Wahlberg is a Hollywood "A lister" who has starred in dozens of films including:Ted, Transformers, The Other Guys, and The Fighter. Mark is also the executive producer of A&E's show Wahlburgers.

Wahlburgers restaurant is known for their burgers, hence the name. However I decided to forgo the traditional beef patty, and opted for "Alma's Favorite Chicken" sandwich. Alma is the fun loving, spunky mom of the Wahlberg boys. The sandwich consists of seared chicken breast, carmelized onions, iceberg lettuce, fresh tomatoes, and "dad's" buttermilk dressing. I ordered a side of onion rings to complement the sandwich. The onion rings are of the Bermuda variety, are crispy fried, and tossed in sea salt and parsley. The sandwich was decent but not excellent. The chicken was seared to perfection, the vegetables were fresh, and the dressing was tasty. Overall however, it was a little bland and could have used a little more flavor. I was really disappointed with the onion rings. They were served at room temperature and lacked some serious flavor. I like my food served hot and flavorful.

One of my friends ordered the Seared Haddock Patty with a side of Sweet Potato Tots. He told me the sandwich was good, but when I sampled his his Potato Tots, they too were served at room temperature. They tasted alright, but I could tell they weren't all that fresh. My other buddy ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger. When I asked him how it was, he replied "Eh." I think that translated to tasting just OK.  He ordered the traditional Tater Tots as a side. I tried some, and they were delicious! Not only were they piping hot, they had plenty of flavor.

OK so I was a little disheartened with Wahlburger's food. The service however was acceptable. Surprisingly, we were seated immediately with no wait time. Our server was friendly in his own "Bostonian" way. He was relatively attentive to our our beverages, and also asked how were were doing from time to time.   I would rate my overall Wahlburgers experience a C+.

Just Jen and I talked about my trip to Wahlburgers!
