New Hartford Man Bringing Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga to New York State Fair
Something new is coming to The Great New York State Fair, and it's not deep fried or covered in bacon.
New Hartford yoga instructor, Mike Calogero, says he's bringing Paddleboard Yoga to the fair. Mike, the founder of 315 Yoga, has been offering the unique yoga class for a few years in Central New York, but this is the first time its been offered at the Fair.
Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga is exactly what it sounds like: yoga on a paddleboard in water. Classes will be offered on the pond in the state park at the Fair at 8, 9 and 10 a.m. on each Saturday and Sunday of the Fair. Classes cost $25. You need to purchase tickets in advance HERE.
We asked Mike Calogero if doing yoga on a paddleboard is hard - we'll be honest - I kinda looks hard. He says "we modify all the postures, and everyone that's taken the class has been able to stand up and participate. I can't promise you won't fall in but you will have fun doing it."
Alright Mike, we may have to take you up on that. If you don't want to wait until the State Fair, you can also take a class at Green Lakes State Park Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30am and 9:30am. You'll need to register in advance at 315yoga.com.
Coming this fall, there will also be SUP classes offered at MVCC.
