5 Other Cities Named ‘New Hartford’ You Can Move to if You Don’t Like This One
Not only New Hartford, but we've found six other "Little Falls," four other cities named "Marcy," and handful of other Central New York cities that share their name with other places across the country.
It's our "How Unique Are the City/Town names in Central New York" re-vamped for part three. We have eight more places in Central New York, and we're going to see how common their names are around the United States...
New Hartford
Although there are five other cities named "New Hartford" across the country, New Hartford, New York is probably your best place to live if you're looking for shopping, places to eat, things to do, and all that. Our New Hartford is the biggest with a population of 22,166 (as of the 2010 Census). These other states have a town or city named New Hartford:
- Connecticut (second most populated New Hartford)
- Illinois
- Iowa (good if you're looking for a small town, with a population of 516)
- Minnesota (named after New Hartford in Connecticut)
- Missouri
Little Falls
If you don't want to live in Little Falls, New York, but you still want to live in a place called "Little Falls," you have six other choices across the United States. Actually at one time there were seven, but Little Falls, Washington changed its name to Vader. Little Falls, New Jersey is the most-populated, with 14,432 residents (according to the 2010 Census). Here are the other "Little Falls" in the country:
- Minnesota (one of the oldest cities in the state)
- Maine
- New Jersey
- Virginia
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
Holland Patent
If you're looking for another "Holland Patent" in the United States, good luck. There isn't one. The only Holland Patent you'll find is ours, right here in New York. Holland Patent can be added to the list with Dolgeville, Canastota, and Stittville, as cities in Central New York that only exist in our area.
Newport
If you want to live in "Newport," but not in New York, you have PLENTY of options around our country. There are 42 other areas that share the name Newport (in 33 other states). Newport, New York has a population of 2,302 (according to the 2010 Census), which makes it fall on the smaller-side of Newports across the country. The biggest one can be found in Rhode Island, with a population of 24,027 in 2013. These states also contain a city or town named Newport:
- Arkansas (a bigger one, with a population of 7,879 in 2010)
- California
- Delaware
- Florida (actually has two areas named Newport)
- Georgia
- Illinois
- Indiana (a smaller one, with a population of only 515)

Marcy
Looking to get out of Marcy, New York? We suggest you stick it out if you still want to live in a place called Marcy. There are four other cities and towns that share the name Marcy, but ours happens to be the biggest, with a population of 8,982 (according to the 2010 Census). These are the other states that also have a Marcy:
- Flordia
- Ohio
- Pennsylvania
- Wisconsin
Remsen
There are only two places called "Remsen" in the United States. We did find a "Remsen Center," but that doesn't count. It's not the exact same name. So if you're looking for a different Remsen to travel to (or live in), you could try Remsen, Iowa, the only other one in the country.
Bridgewater
If you want to live in a "Bridgewater" that isn't in New York, you've got plenty of options. There are 16 other cities that share that name across the United States. Bridgewater, New York is definitely not the biggest, with four other states having more populated "Bridgewaters." One of those, has more than 40,000 more residents (than ours). Here are the states where you'll find a Bridgewater:
- Connecticut (it was actually the only 'dry' town in the state, until 2014)
- Georgia
- Indiana
- Iowa (a lot smaller than ours, with a population of 182)
- Massachusettes
- Maine
- Michigan (which was named after Bridgewater, New York)

- New Jersey (the biggest Bridgewater, with a population of 44,464)

Liverpool
You have a few other choices if you're looking for a "Liverpool" outside of New York (but still in the US). There are seven other city and towns that share that name, but unfortunately none are named after the one in our state. These are the other states that have a Liverpool:

- Illinois (tiny town with a population of only 129)
- Indiana
- Louisiana
- Pennsylvania
- Texas
- West Virginia
