How Many New Year’s Resolutions Really Last?
Happy New Year! 2023 is here, and with any new beginning, we all hope for the best. Many like to make one or more New Year's resolutions. I used to, but too many times I broke those resolutions, Usually in the first two or three months, and I finally decided to stop making this an annual thing.
Are you like me or have you made one or more New Year's resolutions? I thought it would be interesting to find out how well New Year's resolutions work out for people as we enter a new year.

The website Insideout Mastery has some interesting statistics about New Year's resolutions. For one thing, they found that almost 39 percent of adults in the United States set at least one new resolution for the new year.
MOST POPULAR RESOLUTION
Can you guess what the most popular New Year's resolution is? If you answered to exercise more, you are correct. About 48 percent of U.S. adults make this their resolution. Healthier eating and losing weight round out the top three.
But how many fall short of those goals? Insideout Mastery notes that 23 percent quit in the first week and only 36 percent of those trying to achieve that resolution to exercise more, make it past January. Overall, only 9 percent of New Year's resolutions are kept.
REASONS FOR QUITTING RESOLUTIONS
It's interesting to note that those who are 55 or older (including me) are just over 3 times less likely to set a New Year's resolution than any other age group. The three biggest reasons for not following through on a New Year's resolution are motivation loss, being too busy and a shift in goals and priorities according to Insideout Mastery.
So, if you made a New Year's resolution, I wish you luck and hope it works out for you. That will mean you are in the 9 percent group of resolution achievers for 2023.
