This past Friday was International Women's Day and March is Women's History Month. So, it's a great time for women to take stock of their place in the world, their potential, and their opportunities.

WalletHub, the financial services website, has determined 2019's Best & Worst States for Women. In order to reach its conclusions, WalletHub researched 24 different indicators, "from median earnings for female workers to women’s preventive health care to female homicide rate." Then, those stats were separated into two main categories--Economic & Social Well-Being and Health & Safety. The 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia were all ranked.

The Empire State finished 5th overall.

But, despite its strong rating, New York did come up short in a few key areas. For instance, New York was 47th in Median Earnings for Female Workers.

Minnesota and Massachusetts were ranked 1st and 2nd in the study. Louisiana finished dead-last.
