North Country Residents Rally To Save Hallmark Store

A Hallmark cards and gift store at the St. Lawrence Center mall in Massena is slated to close, but shoppers are attempting to get Hallmark to keep the store open.

Hallmark has been a tenant of the North Country mall since it opened and the manager told the Watertown Daily Times:

“There was some talk of us moving somewhere else, but that appears to be a slim chance,” Ms. Reno said, adding the departure of TJ Maxx from the mall had a negative effect on sales.

“When TJ Maxx left, our sales did go down,” she said. She said the departure of TJ Maxx also gave Hallmark’s corporate office a chance to get out of its lease with the mall.

“The customers are upset,” she said, adding that collectors of Hallmark’s famed Keepsake ornaments seem to be the most disappointed.
