Puerto Rico was hit hard by Hurricane Maria. The Federal government is sending help, and now NY is sending some of its best to help, too. New York State Police Troop F has 5 members in Puerto Rico to assist with relief efforts.

According to their Facebook post, the officers arrived in Puerto Rico today - October 2 - to help the residents of the US Territory. So far, the post has received more than 3,000 positive reactions. Troop F is headquartered in Middletown, NY.

The help is definitely needed. According to the latest information from USA Today, only 45% of the island's population has access to drinking water, and 95% of the population is without electricity.

There's no word on how long the officers will stay in Puerto Rico.
