Paul McCartney Pays Tribute to Prince With ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ in Minneapolis [VIDEO]

Rock legend Paul McCartney performed at the Target Center in Minneapolis last night (May 4) and the 73 year old decided to use the occasion to pay homage to the city's fallen superstar, Prince.

“I’ve been a fan for a really long time, [and] seen his shows in London,” McCartney told the crowd. He also shared that he'd seen Prince perform on St. Barts this past New Year’s Eve. “It was a beautiful night. God bless you, Prince.”

McCartney had tweeted about Prince on April 21st, the day the legendary musician passed away suddenly in his Paisley Park home in Minneapolis.

But he wasn't done saluting the Purple One. After a roaring performance of the Wings hit "Hi, Hi, Hi," Macca added a special coda: about a minute-and-a-half of the outro from Prince's classic 1984 hit "Let's Go Crazy." With McCartney holding down the bassline, his backing guitarist got to highlight the infamous Prince solo that closes that song.

And the crowd reacted with understandable joy.

“He’s your guy!” McCartney yelled as he finished the song. “Thank you, Prince, for writing so many beautiful songs, so much music.”

Paul McCartney is the latest in a growing line of artists paying tribute to Prince. D'Angelo, Jhene Aiko, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen and David Gilmour are among the acts who have shown love to Prince Rogers Nelson onstage since his death.
