Pet Costume Contest at New CNY Pet Supply Store

There's a new pet supply store in town, and they're celebrating with a pet costume contest. And they do mean ALL pets.

A listener recently asked if we knew of any trick or treating for pets, and this may be the answer. There's a new store on Route 5 in Vernon called Carhart's Feed & Pet Supply. They carry a wide variety of brands and products, everything you need for both household pets and livestock.

They're already open for business, but their official grand opening is Saturday, October 28th. Since it's so close to Halloween, they decided to offer free fall pet photos and a costume contest. According to their Facebook page:

Pet Costume Contest: Free pet treats, prizes and a photo, if you can put your pet on a leash, dress it up and bring it to Carhart's Feed & Pet Supply. Yes, that means ALL livestock and household pets! (Carhart's Feed & Pet Supply via Facebook)

What you have to do is stop by during business hours, from October 21st through October 28th at 2pm. They'll take a photo of your pet in costume and post it on their Facebook page as well as at the store. The pet that gets the most votes/likes will be the winner. And they have prizes for Best Pet Costume and Best Pet/Owner Combo Costume. Hmm, better start thinking about what you AND your pet can wear.

They will announce the winner at 4:45pm on October 28th at their Grand Opening event, but you don't have to be present to win. You will also be able to pick up your pet's photo for free at the store after the winner has been announced. You can find the full details and follow the contest's progress on their Facebook page.

It's technically not "pet trick or treating" but they will give Butch or Whiskers a treat when they stop by for their photo. Sounds like a fun way to share Halloween with your favorite four-legged friend.
