UPDATE:  The State Dairy Exhibits people have changed their minds.  They have now announced that they will keep those milk prices at 25 cents.

It's the first price increase in over three decades, but the price of a cup of milk at the New York State Fair this year will be twice as much as last year.  The cost of a cup of milk at one of the fair's most popular attractions will now be 50 cents.  It's the first price increase for that beverage at the fair since 1983.

The New York State Dairy Exhibits Inc. runs the dairy products building.  Their biggest source of income is the sale of those 7-ounce cups of white or chocolate milk.  Board member Bruce krupke told Syracuse.com that the 33 years of absorbing all the costs became too much.

Nearly 400,000 cups of milk are sold each year at the state fair.
