We all know the fans were rivals of each other - if you liked The Backstreet Boys, you most likely didn't like 'N SYNC (or the other way around). The Backstreet Boys have admitted that there was an actual rivalry between the two bands.

A new documentary of The Backstreet Boys is out, called "Show 'Em What You're Made Of." The video is pretty much a 'tell-all' of the boy band, from their beginnings and their first album in Europe, to their rising fame and best and worst moments. The documentary also talks about the band's manager, Lou Pearlman, and how they found out about another boy band coming onto the scene.

Backstreet Boys band member Kevin Richardson talks in the documentary about the moment they found out about the other band saying, Lou (Pearlman) showed him a VHS tape of the other group. According to perezhilton.com,

That group didn't have a name at the time, but would shortly become *NSYNC! The Backstreet Boys found out that Pearlman modeled the exact same boy band formula to create a rival band to perform when BSB wasn't available!

Ouch. Talk about getting knocked down a few notches. You can see the official trailer for their documentary below.

The Backstreet Boys "Show 'Em What You're Made Of" Documentary is making it's network television premiere tonight (Friday, April 3) at 10pm on VH1.
