The CharlesTown USA Mall in Utica has been closed since the early 90s but that doesn't stop explorers from wandering through the old building. Take a walk through with Scott Murray and his friends from Abandoned Works Urban Exploration.

The New Hartford native, who is attending SUNY Poly, has been exploring urban ruins for some time. "This is the first adventure we decided to document," Murray says.

Murray and Urbex plan to make a mini movie of their discoveries. "We are making a 25 minute documentary on the building out of the 7 hours of footage captured inside the abandoned building."

The documentary should be out sometime in January, but Murray has created a video trailer to get everyone excited for what's to come..

CharlesTown USA mall was a manufacturing plant during WWI and WWII and turned into an outlet mall in 1982. The mall closed in 1991 and became a business complex, according to the Standard Journal.

A local attorney bought the property in 2007, but plans to rehabilitate the building were halted after work was being done without permits according to a federal EPA report.

In 1969 the mall was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
