Technology Company Bans Work Email
Do you get a lot of work emails? I tend to have to check mine 10,000 times a day. Most of the time, the important messages are buried under spam. By the time I get to them, the time already passed where I needed to give an answer. Work email may be a thing of the past.
Employees of the technology company Atos will be banned from sending emails under the company's new "zero email" policy. Sounds a little odd right? Well CEO Thierry Breton said only 10 percent of the 200 messages employees receive per day are useful and 18 percent is spam. So, he's fighting back by changing the way employees communicate with each other.
He hopes the company can get rid of internal emails in 18 months and get the employees to communicate with each other via instant messaging and a Facebook-style interface. Atos has already reduced the number of internal emails by 20 percent in six months.
It may be the wave of workplace future!
