My father who lives in Florida, is visiting us this week. We have Italian heritage in our family so I just had to take him to the festival yesterday. If you missed it, you missed out on some great food. Italian sausage sandwiches with peppers, pasta fagioli, Sicilian rice balls and my son Dylan's favorite, dipped fresh dough or the pizza fritte —  fried dough sprinkled with sugar.

Granted the menu is full of Italian favorites, I'd like to see it expanded on next year. I'd like to see the festival itself keep growing. Currently the Utica version is held in the parking lots of Mt. Carmel church. I'm hoping we can combine the Frankfort, Utica and Rome Italian-American festivals into one big event every year.

As you can see, there is some entertainment for the kids, I say, next year let's bring a whole mid-way in! Are ya with me? Feel free to leave a comment.
