An annual tradition in support of our country's military veterans is back and a sight you have to see.

14-year-old Owen Jassak is back with another flag display even bigger than before. It's a 10 year tradition, that started with him placing flags on gravestones when he was four and has now evolved into something even bigger than he could have ever imagined.

Throughout the year, Jassak will raise money selling each of the flags placed on display. He will then label each flag with the name of a fallen veteran or member of the military.

Then came the day of placing all the flags. With the help of his mother Cheryl and some other close friends, they were able to place over 2,000 flags in front of the Veteran's Memorial in New Hartford. The stunning display took over 3 hours to finish, but was filled with "many laughs, lots of great stories."

ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN! Thank you to the Town of New Hartford for allowing us to display the flags at the park.

Owen's dedication to our veterans hasn't gone unnoticed. He's a former winner of the Youth Hero/Good Deed Award, given to those who display heroism and helpfulness under the age of 18. Back in 2020, he was also given the Children Have the Power to Empower Award, recognizing children for their outstanding acts of goodness.

The money raised each year through the flag donations benefits multiple organizations, including those that support veterans and essential workers.

A Fun Night at The Drive-In Theatre is Still Possible at These 21 Nostalgic Outdoor Movie Venues

In the 1950s there were more than 4,000 drive-in theatres popping up all over the United States. The decline of their popularity came in the late 1960s and early 1970s when their numbers dropped to about 350 nationwide. Later, with the advent of the "everything retro" movement, outdoor movie theaters made a comeback and today there are more than 500 in the United States.

We all have fond memories of jamming our cars full of kids on "one price per car" night, the buggy yellow fluorescent neon lights at the concession stand, the greasy and oh-so-satisfying drive-in food, and those awkward in-window car speakers.

Today, everything is modernized. But still a lot of fun. There are more than 50 drive-ins in New York State. Here is a list of 21 favorites.

Let us know if your own favorite didn't make the list!

These 7 Prisons Are The Most Violent In New York State

New York released a report with the most recent number of violent assaults on inmates in state prisons. There were 134 inmate deaths noted in the report, although it doesn't break down the prisons where each death occurred or who caused them. Here's a look at some of the general violent incidents reported for 2020, which is the most recent data reported by the state. Compared to 10 years ago, inmate assaults have almost doubled. Overall, the number of unusual incidents includes things like assaults, deaths, accidents, sexual misconduct, and disruptive behavior.  According to the state,
"The number of unusual incidents has increased 132% from 5,980 in 2011 to 13,870 in 2020. These higher incident numbers were largely due to increases in assaults on incarcerated individuals (+81%), assaults on staff (+86%), contraband (+130%), disruptive behavior (+372%), and staff use of weapons (+1,035%)."
In 2020, 1,836 weapons used to cut or stab, including ice picks, razor blades, can lids and shanks were discovered in state prisons around New York.
