‘Tis The Season…Already?

I can't say that I was shocked when I walked into Lowes on Erie Boulevard in Rome on the first day of October.  But with over 4 weeks to go until Halloween, almost 8 weeks 'til Thanksgiving, and nearly 3 months until Christmas, do we want to be seeing this display already?

Way back when I was a kid, we waited all year for Christmas.  It just couldn't come fast enough.  I think one of the reasons for that was that there was nothing to remind of us the holiday until around Thanksgiving time.  It was truly the "holiday season," and that kept it special.

Now, we have three months of the holiday season.  Do people really buy these trees and decorations this early?  Apparently they do or Lowes and other stores wouldn't be wasting the valuable floor space.
