Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri shared a link on Facebook to request the city become home to a Trader Joe's grocery store.

Trader Joe's website contains a "Location Request" where anyone can request a Trader Joe's come to their town or neighborhood. The grocer notes, "there are no guarantees, but being wanted matters to us."

One reply to Mayor Palmieri's Facebook post suggested Bagg's Square West, in an area north of Oriskany Blvd and between the AUD and Genesee Street. That location would be near the to-be developed Mohawk Valley Healthcare hospital.

The city is currently home to four grocery stores, Price Choppers in North and South Utica, Hannaford in East Utica and Chanatry's on French Road.
