Central New Yorkers can soon get from Syracuse to Boston and back again in roughly one quarter of the time it takes to drive. And affordably, too.

JetBlue is now offering daily non-stop flights between Syracuse and Boston. The special, initial two-day sale fare (good through August 23, 2017) is only $59 for a one-way ticket.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer noted the inspiration behind the expanded service is tied to increased demand for travel between the two cities. Which makes you wonder why?

Are Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim and his staff mining a new recruiting vein in that portion of the northeast and traveling in that direction more often to birddog blue chip recruits?

Have Central New York cravings for Maine lobster increased to the point that seafood shipping lines need to be bolstered?

Whatever the reason, you have a great economical choice to get you to one of the region's coolest cities. Now, you just have to decide how to spend your time in Boston.

A Red Sox-Yankees game at Fenway Park? A day at the England Aquarium? How about shopping and street performers at Faneuil Hall? maybe a viewing of Revolutionary War-era hallmarks like the Boston Tea Party ships, Paul Revere's house, or the Old North Church?

And while you're in Beantown, be sure to put in a few plugs about Central New York, for Bostonians planning to come visit us via JetBlue.
