Exploring Craft Beer at ‘Utica on Tap’ – New to Naomi
It was a packed house at the Utica AUD Saturday night for "Utica on Tap." I figured it was the perfect event to check out for another "New to Naomi."
Saturday evening a line grew around the Utica AUD that wrapped around the building. Hundreds and hundreds of people waiting in line, ready to get in and try nearly 100 different craft beers from more than 50 breweries across America.
The doors opened at 5pm, and the flood of people into the building was unbelievable. More than 1,500 people showed up for this event (I wasn't joking when I said it was a packed house).
The AUD was lined with different booths from a variety of breweries. Each booth was set up with two different kinds of craft beer from that brewery, and information about the beers (plus the servers were there to tell you anything you needed to know about the beer).
Yes, beer was the big attraction for "Utica on Tap," but there was more than that. A live band took the stage. There was also an area for "Silent Disco Dancing." Now that was fun to watch. People would get into this little roped off area, put on headphones, and dance. Since the audience couldn't hear the music, it made for a great show - entertaining and funny.
With tons of different craft beers, and a huge crowd - it's no wonder why so many people were excited for "Utica on Tap." I think it was the perfect event for both beer lovers, and for those curious ones who just wanted to try something new. It was a great night, and I can't wait for "Utica on Tap" to come back next year!
