With the thunderstorms that rolled through last week, it's got people wondering if this month was one of our mildest Februarys on record.

Last year, our winter in Central New York seemed colder than usual, and it feels like this winter has been warmer than average. How does it really stack up to years past, though?

This data has been compiled from Weather Underground - Looking at the history of February temperatures dating back to 1945. The table below shows the average high temperature and low temperature of February every year.

***From 2001 - 2006 no data was available.

We broke down the years that had the highest average temperature in February even more. Those results are below:

1. February 1998 - Average High: 40 Average Low: 29
13 days had a high of 40 or above, but no highs in the 50s or 60s.

2. February 1984 - Average High: 39 Average Low: 25
February 23 had a high of 61
February 24 had a high of 60
And one day had a high in the 50s

3. February 1954 - Average High: 38 Average Low: 23
February 28 had a high of 61
And two days had highs in the 50s

4. February 1976 - Average High: 38 Average Low: 19
Four days had highs in the 50s
And eleven days had highs in the 40s

5. February 1981 - Average High: 38 Average Low: 22
February 19 had a high of 62
And seven days had highs in the 50s

For all the years data has been collected, 2016 is on the warmer side of the scale, but it's not close to anything record-breaking. On that same note, last year's February temperatures were some of the coldest.
