What’s a Yurt? Spend the Night in One in Waterville
Upstate, New York is home to a variety of one of a kind overnight stays, but nothing compares to vacationing in a yurt; but what in the world is a yurt?
According to Wikipedia:
A traditional yurt (from the Turkic languages) or ger (Mongolian) is a portable, round tent covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia.
If you've never tried camping, yurt style, there's one conveniently located right here in Central New York. This particular yurt is located in Waterville, less than 30 minutes away from Utica, but you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.
If you're looking to take a unique, romantic get away with your special someone, or you just want to commune with nature for a night or two, this will probably satisfy the outdoor adventurer in you. The yurt is furnished with a shower, toilet, running water, a queen sized bed, a futon, and even a small kitchen.
It's even heated for the winter months.
There's also a picnic table outside for dining, and plenty of hiking trails surrounding the 80 acre yurt. If stargazing is your thing, the outdoor patio is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine at night.
