Why Is The New Hartford Hannaford Abruptly Closed?

UPDATE 6/5/2019 @ 7:39am: The Commercial Drive Hannaford is re-opened. They are only able to take cash or credit as payment. 

The New Hartford Hannaford suddenly closed Tuesday night.

If you tried to shop at the New Hartford Hannaford Tuesday night, you were greeted by a large sign telling you the store is closed - and not much more information.

The parking lot at the Commercial Drive grocer was unusually empty. The store lights were on, and a lone employee paced outside the store wearing a safety vest.

Calls to the Commercial Drive store went unanswered, but an employee at the Kellogg Road Hannaford was able to tell us that the Commercial Drive store was experiencing "extreme technical difficulties." The employee said she was unable to elaborate or tell us when the store would re-open.

A call made to the corporate offices directed us to call back during business hours.

We'll keep you updated as this story develops. For now, Hannaford customers should head to the Kellogg Road location for shopping. That store remains open.
