Adopt A Pet Wednesday: Meet Binks and Hera
Remember, Don’t shop…Adopt! On this Adopt-a-Pet Wednesday, we would like to feature a dog and a cat currently living at the Stevens-Swan Humane Society that are looking forward to coming home with you !
Hera is a 5-6 year old female Shepherd mix. She may look familiar to you because she has a very special story. Hera and her nine puppies were dumped by their previous owner in our parking lot at the shelter in the middle of the night in the freezing cold. Hera acted very heroically and went out to the road to attract the attention of the cars passing by. Luckily it worked and our staff were notified quickly and we were able to get her and her nine puppies safely inside and warmed up. All nine of her puppies have since been adopted, but Hera is still here looking for her forever home. It has been a long road for Hera and she was an amazing mom to her nine puppies, but now it is time for Hera to me pampered. Please consider adopting this precious pooch! You can call her ‘Hera the Hero.’
Binks is a 6 year old male domestic short hair tuxedo kitty who is as cute as a button. As you can tell by his picture, he is a little over weight, but we think it adds to his charm. Unfortunately, this is his second go around at the shelter. He was adopted out about six months ago, but was recently returned for being “too friendly” yes that’s what I said “too friendly.” Binks can be slightly annoying when he wants attention with his weaving through your feet and adorable little meows, but he can’t help the fact that he has a lot of love to give! Please come and meet Binks, you’d be glad you did!
You can find out more about Binks & Hera along with the other pets available when you Email the Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County. Or visit them at 5664 Horatio Street in North Utica near BJ’s, Wal Mart and Lowes.
