It may be December, but it's not too early to start thinking about the 2015 Boilermaker.

"Getting fit is not scary," is the message Boilermaker Road Race officials are spreading this Halloween.

While the 2014 Boilermaker road race here in the Utica area has already been run, the 2014 Boilermaker Shadow Run will happen next month in Kuwait. What a great way for our military who couldn't be here for the race to be part of the Boilermaker while serving overseas.

Some of the runners at this years Utica Boilermaker Road Race say that the construction along the race route was an eyesore and a safety hazard. Runners were seen dodging construction cones along The Parkway and Utica councilman Joe Marino says "that's an embarrassment." Now a resolution has been passed.

Love was in the air at the 37th running of the Utica Boilermaker Road Race yesterday. Just after his girlfriend crossed the boilermaker yesterday Mike Vennero, 32, proposed to his now fiancee, Megan Risler, 28, at the 2014 Utica Boilermaker finish line yesterday.

Running takes center stage in Central New York this time of year with the Boilermaker coming up this weekend. Not only are we lucky to the Boilermaker run in our area, we're also home to the National Distance Running Hall Of Fame in downtown Utica.
