5 Central New York Fried Fair Foods That Are Dangerously Delicious
It's fair season, you know what that means right? Carnival games, rides, sunshine, and oh yeah, food! This year, Central New York fairs are presenting some fried food options that will send your taste buds on an upside down roller coaster ride!
Deep Fried Mashed Potatoes on a Stick
The Great New York State Fair will be offering this incredibly cheesy, buttery treat. I had a chance to try this at the Tennessee State fair and I liked it so much that I had to track down the recipe. Here it is. Enjoy some spuds with your buds at this year's fair. You're arteries might not thank me, but your mouth most definitely will!
Deep Fried Peanut Butter And Jelly
Here it is: your favorite childhood sandwich, flash fried, and dripping with peanut butter goodness. I've always been a fan of grilled peanut butter sandwiches but this delectable treat tastes much better because of the spoonfuls of grape jelly and the incorporation of extra grease. If you think eating this fair food would be unfair to your body, there's a good chance you're right. However, if you spot someone eating one, and you're without, you may find yourself getting slightly peanut butter and jealous. Here's the recipe.
Twinx
What's a Twinx? Stuff a Twinkie with a Twix candy bar, wrap it in bacon, and drop it in the deep fryer. I've yet to try one of these insane delights but According to The Wall Street Journal:
Twinx weighs in at just under 1,000 calories. That caloric intake would require roughly 90 minutes of running, two hours of swimming, or more than three hours of Zumba class to burn off.

Deep Fried Oreos
If you have a little pancake mix, a box of "Milk's favorite Cookies", and a deep fryer, you can easily make this one yourself. Something tells me you'll feel way more guilty indulging in this one at home, so you should probably wait for the fair to yield to to this delicious temptation. I first tried this chocolaty snack at the Boonville fair seven years ago. I couldn't stop myself at just one plate full of cookies, so I purchased seconds, and thirds. Needless to say I stayed off the scrambler, and the teacup rides that day. Here's the recipe for deep fried Oreos.
Fried Cheesecake
I believe you when you tell me your grandmother's cheesecake is the best on the planet, but that was before some genius decided to give America's favorite dessert a bath in hot oil. I'm no scientist, but I'm sure there's some explanation as to why cheesecake tastes even better after it's tossed in a deep fryer. The last time I tried this tantalizing dessert, I ended up taking a whole plate home with me for my neighbors to try. Here's that recipe.
