5 Reasons Why I Appreciate Being a Utica Comets Fan

In honor of the Utica Comets' Fan Appreciation Weekend (happening this weekend), I thought it was only appropriate to show why being a Comets fan is such a great thing.

 1 - The Games Bring Our Community Together

It doesn't matter what's going on in the community, the state, or even the world - when the game starts, we're all together. We all want to see the Comets play well, score, and take another win. Everything on the outside can be forgotten about, at least for a few hours. It's a great way to get away.

 2 - The Players Have Wicked Awesome Skills

You're bound to see some sweet moves on the ice... Every. Single. Game! Whether it's just crazy passing (you know, when you look back and can't figure out how they pulled that off), amazing blocking, or even a wicked cool goal like this one:

 3 - ...And They're Wicked Awesome People

Yeah, we all want to believe our favorite professional sports player is a great person, but face it, that's not the case most of the time. Well, that's not true when it comes to the Utica Comets. Not only are they amazing on the ice, they're amazing in person too. Just a few weeks ago, they were part of an Alzheimer's Association Fundraiser at Tony's AUDelicious. They were there for a great cause, but also to hangout and meet the fans. They even played games with the fans - anything from air hockey to basketball. The best part? The Comets were so 'down-to-earth,' - they didn't act like they were better than everyone else, or too big to be doing something like this. Honestly, I think they had just as much fun as the rest of us!

4 - Every Game is a Great Game!

Sure we want the Comets to win every game, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Even if they don't win, it's still a great game. They really play their hearts out! Whether they're down by one or down by five, they play to win. It's a full 60 minutes of hockey, and sometimes that's hard to find these days.

 5 - The Utica Comets Show Us Appreciation

How can you not appreciate a team that appreciates you?! This weekend is the last two home games of the regular season for the Comets and they're celebrating it with their 'Fan Appreciation Weekend.' Both games this weekend have some cool giveaways, including a team picture giveaway (presented by Labatt Blue/Galaxy Cup Presentation). Free stuff for cheering on an amazing hockey team? I'm in!
