It is with a heavy heart that we report that 'Big Bang Theory' actress Carol Ann Susi has died at 62.

Susi, who played the mother of Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) on the beloved CBS comedy, lost her battle with cancer yesterday (Nov. 11), CNN reports.

Though Susi's character was never actually seen on the show, her trademark Brooklyn-style voiceovers were a fan favorite throughout the show's eight seasons.

"'The Big Bang Theory' family has lost a beloved member today," the executive producers revealed in a statement yesterday (quote via CNN). "Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance."

In addition to her role as Howard's brash-talking mother on 'The Big Bang Theory,' Susi made appearances in other classic TV comedies, including 'Cheers' and 'Seinfeld.'

CNN reports that Susi's publicist described her as a "spunky Italian gal from Brooklyn" who enjoyed cooking and Halloween horror mazes. Definitely our kind of girl!

R.I.P., Carol Ann Susi. May your memory live on through your work.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends and former cast members during this difficult time.
