Last fall, it was announced that Utica would be the home of a new movie shoot. That movie will be shot starting this weekend.

“The Cold Days of Summer” is a boxing film based on real-life events. The filmmaker, Michael Flores, is a Frankfort native.

On Sunday, local community members will have the chance to audition for supporting and featured roles at a casting call in the office space above Bite Bakery and Café in Utica. According to WKTV, the casting call will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Actors are asked to arrive ready for the audition with a prepared monologue. Crew members can also submit an email to TheColdDaysOfSummer@gmail.com. Roles are available for all ages (well, 5-75.)

According to the teaser trailer's description on YouTube, "A boxer battles injury, criminals, and an authoritarian school board to save his scholarship and learn the true cost of the American dream."
