Deb Cabral joins us again with more great ways to help us get organized. This week, she tells us about five things we should get rid of that will help declutter our homes.

We all have a few things we could get rid of around the house. A lot of times, they're items we've all saved, but we don't actually need to... Like TV manuals and things like that. In this week's "Get Organized with Naomi Lynn," Deb Cabral shows us one of her "Organized in 60 Seconds" videos that give us five things we can get rid of.

In the video (which you can see at the top of this page), the first thing Deb Cabral mentions, is getting rid of broken umbrellas. If you have a bent or damaged umbrella sitting in the back of your closet, trash it. There's no point in keeping it, and it's just taking up space. Deb Cabral also says to get rid of old cables and chargers. If you haven't used them in quite a while or you don't know what they go to, get rid of them. Again, there's no point to keeping items like these.

The third thing to get rid of that could be creating clutter in your home is receipts. If you're not a business owner and you don't need to keep them for tax purposes, toss them. Number four on the list is a very interesting one. Deb Cabral says to get rid of old books, if you're not going to reread them or use them for reference. And it makes sense, there's no point in keeping books, just to keep them, especially if you're never going to look at that book again. And when it comes to books, you can donate them to your local library and they can be put to good use.

The last thing Deb Cabral says you should get rid of is appliance manuals. We all have these laying around, but most of them can be found online. And I don't know about you, but I know I have a few manuals that I don't even own the items they go to anymore. But they're in a box, where they've been collecting dust with all the other manuals I have. And that's just a bunch of trash that needs to go.

Deb Cabral also shares a story with us, about when it's okay to save certain things, like those manuals. Her and her family were able to get a projector that belonged to her dad working again, thanks to the manual being kept in the projector case. You can hear about that story in the video (at the top of this page). Deb Cabral also goes into more detail on some of those items that you SHOULD keep, especially if you're a business owner and/or for tax reasons.
