I haven't had to shop for kids before until this Christmas. All I can remember about toys are what I always wanted growing up. Problem is I haven't been been a baby in over 28 years and I'm looking for my nephew and I'm not use to wanting boy toys. I decided to do some research and see what toys kids are into now. The toys for girls were easy because I could tell it would have been something I wanted, but for a boy I struggled. But I think I have it all figured out and now have a better idea on what boys and girls want. I decided to compile a list of toys that I thought would be hot items for Christmas and share them with you in case you needed a little heads up too!

Lalaloopsy is a doll with hair that you can twist and bend for the look you want. Each doll is dressed according to their personality. There are several dolls you can choose from. Not too sure how I feel about this doll but I can see little girls playing dolls with her.

Boys love to build things and this K'NEX Super Cyclone Coaster Building set is right up their alley. When the coaster is put together it stands to be 3 feet tall. You're son will bring the coaster to life with just a flip of the switch. Just remember the batteries!

This handy little learning devise is great for ages 4 - 9. It's like their own personal tablet computer but much more durable! It comes with a built in camera and 4 apps. You can purchase over 100 other games and activities for the LeapPad Explorer Tablet. This looks great for learning and fun!

NERF has been around for about as long as I can remember. The boys use to love playing with their NERF guns and it looks like they still do! I must say they have advanced greatly since I was little. The NERF Vortex Nitron comes with a scope and a 20 disc magazine. It does require batteries so keep that in mind when picking this up for your kid.

Little ones 9 months and up will have fun with this ball popper. It engages baby with the bright colors and the surprise of the ball popping out of the trunk. Baby learns to pick up and place balls in the elefun. It plays music and you can move the trunk so the balls will pop in different directions. Babies will love this.

I'm not surprised that kids still want Power Wheels. I always wanted one for Christmas but never got one, sad to say. But it's alright, I survived. But I still agree that every kid should have one to play with! They just look like so much fun!

When I was little I had the original Nintendo GameBoy. Now they took that idea, added color, 2 screens, and 3D! Everyone is in the 3D craze right now so what kid wouldn't want this? Oh, and it comes in red, blue, or black.

I think this one is great for the whole family, not just the kids. I think the different games that you can play with Kinect really bring out the kid in everyone, even the adults. This comes as a bundle for Christmas so you you don't have to get games for it. But if you wanted I can tell you my family enjoyed 'Dance Central'.

Little girls will love this colorful interactive friend. There are 4 different colored fijit Friends. Each dances, tells jokes, listens, and responds to your daughter. I don't know about you but I've seen them in all the store ads, this is definitely going to be one hot item.

Elmo takes over Christmas again! This time he rocks instead of laughs. I think there hasn't been a day that has gone by in the last 2 weeks where I haven't seen a commercial for this toy. Elmo not only sings, but he plays the drums, tambourine, and sings in the microphone. How talented is that! I think any preschool kid will enjoy this.
