Just Deserts – 6 CNY Sweet Spots

Looking for something delightfully sweet? Trying to step up your pastry game? We've got a list of some of the most delicious treats in Central New York.

First of all, these places do not necessarily serve JUST desserts. And second, the phrase "just deserts" - yes it is technically spelled correctly. Now onto the list.

Gingerbread Bake Shop - this New Hartford gem is well known for their out-of-this-world halfmoons and donuts. But don't forget to try some of their other specialties like cookies, cakes, cinnamon buns and more. They're in New Hartford on Oneida Street in the plaza with Subway.

Lizzy's Cupcakery - Lizzy's has become one of the area's premier cupcake destinations. They offer an incredible variety of creative designs and even take special orders for birthdays and other occassions. Lizzy's also has gourmet candies, cookies and macarons. You'll find them in New Hartford Shopping Center.

Cafe CaNole - the Noles have been serving the finest Italian food in the Utica area for a long time. And this New Hartford restaurant is still cranking out incredible lunches and dinners. But the bakery side is ready to please your sweet tooth. You'll find some of the area's best Italian pastries, cakes and desserts. Cafe CaNole is located on Campion Road in New Hartford behind Cavallo's.

Wicked Sweets by Alyssa - this Yorkville dessert shop is "hidden" in plain sight near Club Monarch, behind Voss. They feature a wide variety of mini-pastries - tarts, mini canoli, mini brownies and more. But they are becoming well known for their unbelievably decadent French Macarons. Sadly, you'll have to wait until January 16th to try it for yourself since they're closed for vacation.

Sweet Escape Chocolate Lounge - located at 252 Genesee Street in downtown Utica, Sweet Escape is also closed for vacation and will reopen on January 8th. From gourmet locally made chocolates and candies to chocolate-inspired food and drinks, Sweet Escape is yet another delicious option in Utica. Don't miss the salted caramels and turtle bites.

Bite Bakery and Cafe - what more can we say about Bite? Awesome breakfasts and mouth-watering sandwiches, along with fine selections from the bakery. A variety of muffins, scones and cinnamon buns are just the beginning. If you happen to know anyone looking for a job, they are now hiring a kitchen assistant and a weekend dishwasher.
