A new winery will open soon in the shadow of Utica's landmark West End Brewery. The Mohawk Valley Winery is taking over a location at 706 Varick Street in West Utica.

According on an article by New York State Wine Examiner William Dowd,

Once it is open, visitors will be able to watch the onsite fermenting process and sample wines in a 1,600-square-foot tasting room.

The Varick Street location, in addition to the F.X. Matt Saranac Brewery is also home to Adirondack Distillery making local vodka and gin.

Mohawk Valley Winery will be the second winery in Oneida County, following the opening last fall of Villa Verona.
