You may have noticed I was missing last week. I was taking a little vacation for my birthday, but didn't realize it was going to be the best vacation and best birthday of my life.

First of all let me just say I'm happy to be back. My boyfriend and I took a wonderful trip to Tavernier, Florida, and although it was paradise and so warm and beautiful, it's nice to be home. Alright, now it's story time. This is a ridiculous story about how oblivious I can be, and how sometimes that's actually not a bad thing.

It was Tuesday morning, March 27th, when Luke and I woke up early to head down to the beach and get an early start on the day. While sitting in the lounge chairs out by the water, Luke had asked me if I wanted anything from our room, to which I replied no. He decided he was going to head back up anyway and grab a few things. First thing I should have realized - He came back with his backpack.

But I didn't. I didn't think anything of it.

We decided to move to the lounge chairs closest to the water. I sat their soaking up the sun, taking photos with my phone, and just taking everything in. Luke was walking around, dragging his feet in the sand... But he wasn't actually just dragging his feet, he was writing out something. I was sitting 10 feet away from him and didn't notice a thing.

Finally Luke asked if I wanted to go in the water, and of course I did. I got up, walking and dragging my feet right through the area where Luke was "dragging" his feet earlier. I started walking into the water and realized Luke wasn't following me. I turned around, laughing and saying, "I thought you wanted to go swimming. Let's go!"

But he just stood there...

I was confused, but walked back up to him to see what was the matter. He walked around to the other side of me and said, "Hey, it looks like there's something written in the sand... What's it say?"

I looked closely (but apparently not close enough),

"Happy Birthday?"

"Nope," Luke responded. "Try again."

Then it hit me! I saw it and knew what it said...

As I turned around towards him to say, "Marry Me," he was down on one knee with a box in his hand.

I was SO shocked. I can't believe I didn't see it coming and I can't believe how hard I cried. Seriously, Luke said I was "ugly crying," but I didn't think it was that bad. Either way, looking back I can't believe I didn't see it coming. But at the same time, I'm so glad I didn't.

Obviously, I said yes. I got engaged on my birthday, while on vacation in the Florida Keys. I usually don't share things so personal, but I did want to share this story with you. Not only does everyone like a good proposal story, but who doesn't like a good laugh because someone is so clueless to everything going on around her?

Hope you enjoyed this story, and I hope it was able to put a smile on your face.
