The voice of the NFL has died.  Pat Summerall passed away after hip surgery at the age of 82.

Summerall began his NFL broadcasting career at CBS and later moved to FOX.  Most of his time was spent with another NFL legend, John Madden after his 9 year career as a NFL kicker from 1952-61.  He covered 16 Super Bowls and was named National Sportscaster of the Year in 1977.  He was inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame in 1994.
