This weekend my adventures took me on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad for an event with the CATALYST group (and the Greater Utica Chamber).

First off, if you don't know anything about CATALYST let me explain. CATALYST is a group of young professionals in the Utica area that care about the community, and are happy to be a part of it. I joined CATALYST when I first moved out here (seriously, like in the first month) - I wanted a way to get involved with the community. This weekend I finally got a chance to join one of their outings - The Greater Utica Chamber's 'Choo Choo Open.'

This was a weekend of firsts for me - my first time on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad (which is an experience all in itself), my first time in Thendara (which is where the golf course was), and my first volunteer event with CATALYST.

I have to admit, I didn't know what to expect. I don't know the CATALYST group that well, I didn't know the golfers that were a part of this event... let's just say I didn't know a lot. But by the end of the day, I had met a lot of great people, had fun, and got to experience something completely new!

The train ride to Thendara was amazing! I love how there are these fences on the train, so you can look out, feel the fresh air - I don't know how to explain it, it's just something you have to try for yourself.

The actual golf outing was great, too! I met a lot of great people, golfers and other volunteers, and had a lot of fun. It was a great event with CATALYST, and I'm glad I'm a part of this group. I can't wait to join them for more adventures, and opportunities in the Utica area.

If you ever wanted to get involved with CATALYST, or would like to know more about them, or the Greater Utica Chamber, you can always go to the Chamber's website here - or check out the CATALYST Facebook Page.
